Joseph R, LoManto was born in 1932 to parents John and Mary LoManto. He lived at 329 Van Buren Street in Monterey, attended San Carlos School, Monterey High School, two rears at Monterey Peninsula College and two years at San Jose State, graduating in 1954. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957.
Joe lived in San Diego working for Metropolitan Life Insurance until 1960 when the call of the beautiful Monterey Peninsula got him back home where he became a partner in the Dillenback Insurance Agency. It was incorporated to Dillenback and LoManto Insurance Agency Inc. in 1960.
In 1961 he joined the 20-30 Club and was active until he was kicked out at the age of 40, when he then joined the Monterey Peninsula Host Lions Club. Between these two clubs he got involved with charity work. He was a board member of Gateway Center for over 30 years. He worked his first Crosby Golf Tournament in 1962 and just finished his 51st tournament this last fall at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. He was Admissions Chairman since it became the AT&T and on the Operations Committee.
He was involved in the Boy Scouts when his son John was in the Cub Scouts. He helped start Girls Softball League when his daughter, Shelley was playing and active again when his daughter, Joleen was playing. He was involved again when his son, JR was playing baseball and helped with the Bronco World Series when it started in 1993.
He spent 30 years with the National Draft Board, one year on the Grand Jury and held many offices with the Lions and with the Independent Insurance Agents Association of Monterey County and State of California.
